7 examples of mobile apps created in Flutter

Apps made with Flutter have recently become very popular. This technology has proven to be a great fit for almost any type of solution. Companies choose Flutter to build applications for different industries and audiences. Developing cross-platform apps allows you to provide users with the same experience as native apps.

How we used Flutter’s benefits in our projects? Below are 7 examples of apps we’ve created using Flutter. Get inspired and see what they look like and what features they have.

What is Flutter?

Flutter is an innovative technology for developing applications for mobile, desktop and web platforms. It is a free open-source framework from Google. Most importantly, with Flutter, developers can create mobile apps for both iOS and Android on a single code base. This makes it an extremely efficiency-enhancing and time-saving solution. The app is created faster, so you can check its viability beforehand to decide whether to continue working or leave the project for another date.

It is also very cost-effective because it only takes one developer to build a functional MVP (Minimum Viable Product) with Flutter. The programming language used for this technology is Dart. You can read more about it in our article: What is Flutter?.

Corner – live commerce application

Corner is a mobile app for e-commerce that enables shopping through live streaming. Founded in 2020, the startup connects brands and influencers promoting their products on livestreams with users who can buy featured items directly from the app.

The company, after our recommendations, decided to build the application in Flutter, because they wanted to launch the product on both Android and iOS as soon as possible, and the Live Commerce solution could be created in this framework.

Corner’s co-founder came to us with a ready-made MVP. The product turned out to meet initial assumptions, but we had to rewrite the code of the application according to the needs of our partner and without generating deficiencies in its functions, so that it serves the same audience in a better way.

In this project, Flutter allowed us to implement advanced views and in-app features for streaming.

– Live broadcasts and buying directly from them.

– Online shopping with real-time interaction.

– Creating a social network (social interaction, real-time chat, profile management).

– Ability to discover and browse currently trending products.

Mobile application with live streaming and e-commerce functionality? Yes, it is possible with Flutter.

Onoco – parenting app

Onoco is a mobile app for parents and guardians of children that makes it easy for them to track their child’s activities and overall progress. Other similar apps focus on tracking development, baby journal, child development or planning. Onoco combines all these features and introduces other useful ideas to help you care for your children in the best possible way.

The founder of the startup Onoco approached us when she was looking for developers working with Flutter technology. From the beginning, we realized the benefits of a cross-platform solution and it was clear from the start of the project that we would use Flutter for its development.

This is an example of a social mobile application for modern parents, providing them with safe and convenient support in caring for children.

The app features allow you to:

– Make life easier for parents by helping them manage their time and activities by getting to know their child’s natural rhythm and daily routines.

– Track your child’s development with a variety of features to collect important data about your child that have never been combined in one app before.

– Provide parents and caregivers with peace of mind, especially when using paid care or other family members, by simplifying the flow of information between them and the caregiver.

– Create a complete solution for tracking your child’s development, your child’s journal, and for planning.

Plants & Pots – mCommerce app with AR module

Plants & Pots is an online store that offers a wide selection of plants along with matching pots. Founder and CEO of Plants & Pots came to us with an idea for an e-commerce mobile app based on an existing website. The application had to reflect its essence, so we had to implement in it the functionalities of the website (product database, integration of e-commerce system and payment system).

Considering the benefits of cross-platform app development (lower cost and faster development by writing only one app code for both Android and iOS platforms), we decided to create this e-commerce mobile app using Flutter and a bit of native code snippets for the AR module.

The goals of this app:

– Increase sales through convenient shopping from mobile devices

– Gain a new way to communicate with customers and make it easier for them to connect with Plants & Pots

– Help you make a buying decision with an Augmented Reality (AR) module that allows you to visualize the plant in reality

– Help users take care of their plants by sending notifications to remind them to water.

Cosinus – application for pupils and students

Cosinus is a nationwide network of higher education institutions, offering qualifying vocational courses and tuition in free schools for youth and adults with the largest number of graduates in Poland. The company wanted to expand its services by creating a mobile app for its students. Cosinus technical director explained us the functionality of the web platform, and our task was to create an application reflecting the functionality of the existing website, adapting it to mobile standards. The product supports a very large number of users.

Our Partner realized the benefits of a cross-platform solution from the beginning, so we developed the application using Flutter, which provides faster and more efficient development. In the wave of Covid-19, when students could only have classes online, we implemented a brand new feature into the app: an e-learning module.

With the application you can:

– Have access to your schedule at all times.

– Keep up to date with what’s happening in your school.

– Browse current offer of Cosinus schools.

– Enroll in school or online courses.

– Take part in classes as a listener.

– Use a mobile widget with class schedules.

MediWeb – apps for medical professionals

MediWeb is a community of engaged medical professionals who want to learn and enjoy learning from others. MediWeb’s CEO came up with the idea of creating an app for doctors, nurses and other medical professionals that would be helpful in their daily work.

We created two applications for MediWeb: Critical Care Application and IV Dosage and Rate Calculator . It was mainly created for medical professionals to help them calculate various metrics needed for research.

Provide a clear structure and user-friendly data entry features to quickly calculate results. There are 5 different categories of calculators, and each category contains a comprehensive list of easy-to-use calculators. Each has its own page that explains formulas and correct or incorrect results.

A critical tool for medical use and important data management? We took this challenge and created it with Flutter!

Why Flutter?

Why so many companies choose to use this technology in their projects? And why we decided to create so many applications using Flutter? Here are some of the reasons:

To save time and money

– Thanks to Flutter we can build applications for Android and iOS in one code base. It means that developers spend less time programming and there is no need to choose between Android and iOS.

– Flutter is designed to help developers write code faster. It offers ready-to-use widgets and its syntax requires less code to write.

– Hot-Reload gives you the possibility to see the result of changes to the code in real time on the screen. No need to manually reload as it automatically updates UI content.

To get a beautiful and fully functional app

Flutter widgets use all critical platform features and can have the same look and feel as native apps. This applies to scrolling, navigation, icons and fonts, for example.

– The code is compiled to native ARM machine code using native Dart compilers.

– Flutter is a complete SDK (software development kit), which means it is a collection of tools, libraries, documentation, APIs and sometimes frameworks, and this is enough to build a functional cross-platform application.

Because it is future-oriented

– There is already a stable version of Flutter in use , in which Google continues to invest. New versions are released several times a year.

– The number of developers using Flutter continues to grow (it has already surpassed the number of React Native users).

– Developers from around the world form the Flutter community to help and support each other in creating beautiful and functional mobile apps.

Cross-platform apps built with Flutter can have the same features and look as native apps. This doesn’t mean that absolutely any app can be built using Flutter, but it doesn’t change the fact that the technology is gaining popularity for a reason. Flutter is already used by 42% of developers and the number continues to grow.
